Delaware Patrick J. Foley Jr., Ph.D., Managing Director, Delaware Innovation Fund

Patrick J. Foley is the founding chairman of the Delaware Innovation Fund, served as its Board Chair for five years, and has been an active member of the Board since the Fund�s inception. In June 2001, Dr. Foley joined the Delaware Innovation Fund following his retirement after 32 years with DuPont.

The Delaware Innovation Fund (DIF) is a $10 million private non-profit venture capital firm established in 1995. The DIF provides early-stage investment capital and counsel to encourage the growth of seed, start-up and early-stage high technology companies in Delaware and throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.


Delaware Valley, Philadelphia and Pennsylvania East Chris Starr, Managing Director, Mid-Atlantic Angel Group

Christopher Starr is a Managing Director and Vice President, investments at Innovation Philadelphia. Starr is responsible for organizing and implementing economic stimulus investments, attracting new companies to the region, evaluating potential investment opportunities, performing due diligence, negotiating and structuring investments, and working with management teams to execute their strategies following an investment by Innovation Philadelphia.

Most recently, Starr was a principal of Lenfest Capital L.L.C., an affiliate of the Lenfest Group, and a venture capital fund based in Philadelphia that invests nationally in early-stage companies in the media, cable and communications industries as well as in other venture capital and buyout funds.

The Mid-Atlantic Angel Group (MAG) Fund is an angel fund sponsored by Innovation Philadelphia.


Southern New Jersey James Millar, General Partner, Battelle Ventures, LP

James Millar has been involved in venture capital since 1984, when he joined Philadelphia Ventures. He then spent 12 years with DSV, where, as general partner, he led early-stage investments in the software and communications fields.

Prior to entering the venture-capital industry, Jim held a number of engineering and management positions at Texas Instruments (TI), including systems engineer, designing VLSI microcomputers and digital signal processing components.

Se�n Sebastian is responsible for sourcing and evaluating venture capital opportunities primarily in the technology sector.

Se�n has over 16 years of experience in technology commercialization, management consulting, systems integration, and financial services. Prior to founding Birchmere, Se�n was Assistant Vice President in the Corporate Finance Group at PNC Bank.

Jonathan Silver is a Managing Director, and the founding Senior Partner, of Core Capital Partners. Prior to founding Core, Mr. Silver was the Managing Director of Commonwealth Holdings, Inc., a diversified private investment partnership with interests in financial and professional services, communications, and the health and fitness industries.

Core Capital is a $180 million private equity fund that provides capital to both early-stage ventures and small to mid-sized growth companies. All of the fund�s investments are in companies that are developing or incorporating disruptive technology.

Core Capital�s first fund, Core Capital Partners, L.P. is among the top performing funds of 1999 nationwide.


Baltimore Xander Perry, General Partner, Anthem Capital, L.P.

Xander Perry joined the Anthem team in 1998 and has over 10 years business experience with emphasis on telecommunications, information technology and venture capital investing. Before joining Anthem, Mr. Perry worked with Advent International in Boston, Massachusetts where he assisted with the venture capital firm's investments in technology companies. Prior to his career in venture capital Mr. Perry designed and implemented software systems and telecommunications solutions for MCI, BellSouth and other Fortune 500 companies.

Anthem Capital invests exclusively in the Mid-Atlantic states and serves this area from offices located in three of the region�s key markets: the Baltimore�Washington corridor, the Greater Philadelphia market, and the Greater Pittsburgh market.

Anthem seeks opportunities in IT/telecom and healthcare/life sciences industries. IT investments are most frequently made in enterprise software or network management software companies. Medical investments tend to fall into three categories: medical devices, biotechnology or healthcare.

Anthem invests in early to expansion stage opportunities.


Northern New Jersey Ryan Zeigler, Business Development Manager, Edison Venture Fund

Ryan M. Ziegler , Business Development Manager, serves as a primary point of contact for service providers in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York City. In this role, Mr. Ziegler focuses on generating investment opportunities by working closely with technology focused service providers. Additionally, Mr. Ziegler manages the marketing communications within the region.

Previously, Mr. Ziegler was a Business Development Manager with SEI Investments Institutional Group.

Edison Venture Fund focuses on investing in information technology companies including: financial services, pharmaceutical IT, application software, security and technology enabled business solutions.

Edison Venture Fund finances internal growth, management buyouts, acquisitions, corporate spinouts and secondary stock purchases in information technology companies with revenues of $5 - 20 million in New York City, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, DC and Virginia. Edison initially invests $3 - 5 million.


North Carolina M. Scott Albert, Managing General Partner and Co-Founder, The Aurora Funds, Inc.

Scott Albert co-founded The Aurora Funds with Jeff Clark in 1994, after already spending nearly a decade in the venture capital industry. Having also spent time as an entrepreneur, he wanted to create an entrepreneur-friendly venture capital firm that could offer hands on support and guidance in addition to funding.

Today, he leads the IT investment team at Aurora and also oversees much of the day-to-day management of the firm, working closely with the CFO, VP Finance and Office Manager. Prior to forming The Aurora Funds, Scott was the Chief Investment Officer of the North Carolina Technological Development Authority, Inc. ("NCTDA"), a state funded corporation that supports technology based entrepreneurial companies in North Carolina.

The Aurora Fund is a venture capital firm that provides capital, connections and strategic help to entrepreneurs with early stage life science and information technology companies. Founded in 1994, Aurora invests primarily in the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States. The firm manages over $155 million in four venture funds.


New York Josh Grotstein, Managing Partner and Co-Founder, Silicon Alley Seed Investors

Josh Grotstein is Managing Partner and Co-Founder of SAS Investors, a venture capital firm created to grow the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast's most promising seed- and early-stage high-technology ventures.
