This year we held our 7th annual Bio-Life-Tech Conference on December 9th & 10th, 2008 at the spectacular Pier 5 Hotel located at the Baltimore Inner Harbor.

 

Bio-Life-Tech 2008 provided the perfect setting for early stage Life Science and Healthcare companies to present their business ideas to Venture Capitalists, Private Investors and Investment Bankers. The welcoming reception hosted at the Pier 5 Hotel on December 9th proved to be the ideal networking opportunity which was carried over to the conference, the next day.

 

The conference boasted 15 pioneering companies chosen from a pool of applicants, who pitched their business ideas to an attentive audience of investors. Throughout the day there were opportunities to network with the presenting companies and visit their respective booths. Presenting companies, this year, ranged from Biotechnology and Pharmaceuticals to Biomedical Devices, Information Technology and Healthcare Services. They offered path-breaking solutions for the medical challenges faced in today’s world.

 

Early Stage East was honored to have Alan B. Levin deliver the Keynote Address. Mr. Levin is the Former President and CEO, Happy Harry’s and the Nominee for the  Director of Delaware Economic Office—State of Delaware.

 

Dr. Richard C. Birkmeyer was awarded the Robert A. Spar Memorial Founders’ Award for symbolizing  the spirit of entrepreneurship, for his skill in raising venture capital financing and for his leadership in forming mergers and strategic acquisitions. Dr. Birkmeyer is the founder of Strategic Diagnostics in 1990, a public company on NASDAQ (SDIX). Dr. Birkmeyer advises numerous biotech, large corporations and venture firms on acquisitions, technology assessment, funding and corporate partnering. He is a board member providing counsel for six different corporations.

 

The Bio-Life-Tech 2008 Conference proved once again that Early Stage East® is a trendsetter in organizing Venture Capital Conferences that attract the best amongst entrepreneurs and in the finance world.
