RoseAnn Rosenthal President, CEO and member of the Board of Directors of Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania (BFTP/SEP) since 1996, has thirty-eight years of experience in business investment, regional planning, and economic development. Praised by regional leaders as an invaluable resource for the tri-state area, she has earned a strong international reputation with her development of innovative partnerships and extraordinary initiatives.
Since assuming her CEO position, Rosenthal has significantly enhanced Ben Franklin's investment, technology commercialization, and business service initiatives, creating initiatives that have brought the organization national and international recognition. With a current portfolio of over 120 technology companies, BFTP/SEP continues to build upon its proven track record of seeding hundreds of southeastern Pennsylvania’s technology leaders in biotechnology, information technologies, communications, advanced materials, and nanotechnology.
Rosenthal led the creation of initiatives to stimulate angel investments by qualified private investors in early stage technology companies. Her strategies also have focused on initiatives to support the formation and growth of women- and minority-owned technology enterprises. These enterprises have included the Minority Angel Investor Network (MAIN), and WIN.
Rosenthal garnered 18 years of her economic development experience at the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC). As Senior Vice President for Strategic Development at PIDC, she launched and implemented several regional initiatives, including the Southeast Pennsylvania Export Consortium (now the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia), and the Regional Strategy for Industry Competitiveness (Strategy 21).

Doug Alexander
Managing Director, Operations
An original member of ICG's advisory board, Doug joined the company full-time in September 1997 as Managing Director. Doug has had many roles at ICG including CEO of WiseWire Technologies, which was successfully sold to Lycos; Chairman of Verticalnet through its IPO; CEO of ICG Europe; and CEO of Mobility Technologies. In addition to these roles, Doug's primary focus at ICG has been to sponsor and oversee investments in several partner companies that have included Blackboard (Nasdaq: BBBB), Verticalnet (Nasdaq:VERT), eMerge Interactive (Nasdaq: EMRG), Arbinet-thexchange (Nasdaq: ARBX), WiseWire (acquired by Lycos), LinkShare (acquired by Rakuten), CreditTrade (sold to Creditex), StarCite, Mobility Technologies, and Investor Force. Doug currently serves on the boards of Channel Intelligence, Investor Force, Creditex, StarCite, ICG Commerce and WhiteFence.
Prior to joining ICG, Doug co-founded Reality Online in 1989. Reality Online was an early innovator in the development of award-winning financial planning tools and online services aimed at the individual investor. With the advent of the Internet, Doug transformed the company into a leading provider of Internet solutions to the retail brokerage industry, and then sold the company to Reuters in February 1994. Over the following 3 years, Doug became a key contributor to Reuters' many Internet initiatives and a frequent speaker on the Internet and its impact on the financial services industry. Prior to co-founding Reality Online, Doug was a partner with Strategic Management Group, a corporate training firm and three-time Inc. 500 company.
Walter W. Buckley III

Walter is co-founder, chief executive officer and chairman of the board of Internet Capital Group. Prior to ICG, Walter was vice president of acquisitions for Safeguard Scientifics, Inc., where he led many of Safeguard's investments through the mid-1990s, including Diamond Technology; XL Vision, Inc.; ChromoVision; and Video Server. He also was responsible for developing and executing Safeguard's multimedia and Internet investment strategies.
Before Safeguard, Walter was president and co-founder of Centralized Management Systems, Inc., a medical supply company, which he sold in 1987. Previously, he spent three years at CoreStates as a commercial loan officer in the bank's work-out area.
Walter was included in Business Week's 2000 “eBiz 25,” an exclusive listing of the most influential people in electronic business, and the Greater Philadelphia Venture Group honored Walter with its “Entrepreneurial Excellence Award” in June 2000.
The Sal Buccieri Memorial Venture Impact Award is awarded to an individual in the venture capital and entrepreneurial community who exemplifies the passion towards seeing early stage entrepreneurial opportunities succeed and flourish. This individual is one who has clearly impacted early stage technology and fast growth venture opportunities by providing the essential capital, extensive counseling and necessary vision to allow such companies to win in today’s competitive environment. The recipient of this Award is one who strives to create a better environment for all so that entrepreneurs achieve their dreams and attain success. This award is bestowed upon an individual who goes beyond what is considered by the norm in creating supporting a community conducive for such early stage companies. The person is clearly identified with the early stage entrepreneurial community and is regarded in the highest proessional, ethicl, and human regard.
